This definitely wasn't the Sunday Night Football outcome that everyone was hoping for. You could have almost not considered this as a no contest game. Although it is great if you are a Cowboys fan, but if you are just a regular fan, "waiting all day for a Sunday night." this is not the game you were waiting for.
The Cowboys walked away from this one with a 38-17 victory over the Saints. Tony Romo went 22/29 with 262 yards in the air and 3 touchdowns. Not only did the passing game work good for the Cowboys, but they were also dominant in the running game. With 190 yards, they were literally running over the Saints defense who just didn't show up today. They allowed Dallas to march down the field on almost every drive. Murray was the leading rusher for the Cowboys with 149 yards on 24 carries, which is an average of 6.2 yards per carry. Coming into this game, Murray was the leading rusher in the league and tonight he showed everyone why. So far this season, DeMarco Murray has 534 yards on 99 carries which calculated to an average of 5.4 yards per carry. He is well on his way to a 1,000+ yard season.
The Saints looked horrible during the game. Viewers were expecting them team to put up a good fight against the Cowboys, but the exact opposite occurred. It is almost as if the Saints team forgot to show up for the game. Drew Brees threw for 340 yards and he went 32/44 which equates to a completion percentage of 72.7%. He was able to throw for 2 touchdowns, but in the process, he also threw a pick. This wasn't the end of the Saints hardships during the game, they also had 2 fumbles, which they lost both. Their running game consisted of 104 yards on the ground, but only because of a 62 yard run by Robinson. If it weren't for this run, the Saints would have had only about 40 yards on the ground.
- Overall, the Saints didn't want the game to end this way and neither did Saints fans, but it was almost as if they brought in the high school team to play against the Cowboys. The Cowboys on the other hand were one of the best looking teams this week and are hoping to continue this trend into the future weeks, especially in the division games that are coming up in the next few weeks. This was the game that both the Cowboys and Cowboy fans were looking for as a boost for their season and for the Cowboys to be holding high heads going into next weeks game against the Houston Texans.
